3-Ingredient Healthy Rose Milk with Fragrant Roses

I love summer, just for all the flowers that bloom in every garden

This year, we have been taking extra care of our rose bushes and planting new ones. It is hard to find fragrant rose plants, in general. The one that we bought a couple of years ago is called “Morning Glory” and the roses truly live to its name. The equivalent of this in southern India, I think is called “panneer rose”, the type that is used in fragrant garlands in temples.

All Roses Are Edible

What’s extra nice about roses is that they are edible too, with healing properties.  As long as we take care to not spray the plants with pesticides and nurture them in a good environment, all roses can be used in food. I have been saving the petals and drying them for other uses, but here is one idea:

When life gives you fresh roses, you make some healthy rose milk!

3-Ingredient Healthy Rose Milk

The kids have been asking for some rose milk this summer. So, I whipped up some rose milk with just the basic ingredients. Note that since fragrant roses are used, no extra rose essence is required. If you use regular roses, some rose water or essence may be added. Also, a deeper color in the flower will bring about a pink color in the drink.

Go ahead, make this for your kids this evening and see them smile!

3 Ingredient Rose Milk

  • Servings: 2
  • Time: 10 minutes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Print

Ingredients:
Rose petals- 1 cup
Milk of choice- 1 cup (I used coconut milk)
Chilled water- 1 cup
Raw honey- 1 tsp.

Method:
1. Wash rose petals and blend with 3 tbsp. milk to a fine paste
2. Add the other ingredients and blend again till smooth

3. Serve chilled

Note:  Since the petals are used as in a smoothie, a fine paste has to be made with just a little milk/liquid before mixing with all the drink. This is to ensure it completely blends with the drink.

My mind was telling me that eating/drinking something with rose is kinda weird. But will all the recipes I’ve been seeing these days, I think I’m getting the hang of it. In fact, I am interested to try something with rose. This sounds amazing. Thanks for sharing at this week’s FF. 🙂

Yes, it is a bit weird that flowers can be food too, but now that I have started incorporating them, it is not so bad!
