Easy Kale Chips Made in a Low Temperature Oven- A Meatless Monday And Fiesta Friday Recipe

How did I not post this earlier? These kale chips are something that I have been making through this winter, so often, when kale has been in season, for $0.99 a bunch. In fact, this has been the only way I have been using kale, by my kids’ demand! Seriously!!!

No, you do not need a dehydrator. Just a good oven. If you can operate it in the convection mode, with the fan turned on, even better! Baking them in that mode at 200 °F gives the effect of making it in a dehydrator, with maximum nutrients retained.

So here’s the recipe, quick an easy. Make it as an after- school snack for the kids. They will devour it happily!

Easy Kale Chips in Low Temperature Oven

  • Servings: 3-4
  • Time: 35 minutes
  • Difficulty: easy

Ingredients:

Kale (preferably organic)- 1 bunch

Turmeric Powder- 1/4 tsp.

Black pepper- to taste

Sea salt- to taste

Grape seed oil/ Sesame oil- 1/2 tbsp.

Freshly squeezed lemon- 1 tsp. (optional)

Method:

1.  Cut kale by removing the center stem with a knife. Wash the pieces thoroughly with water.

2. Dry them lightly with a cloth towel.

3. Pre-heat your oven to 200 °F in the convection mode. Line an aluminum sheet with parchment paper.

4. Take the kale in a mixing bowl, add all the spices, salt and oil. Toss well and add lemon juice, if needed.

5. Spread it in a single layer on the tray. Bake for 15 minutes.

6. Take out the tray, re-arrange by moving the slightly wetter pieces to the outer edges of the tray.

7. Bake for another 5-10 minutes till all of them are all uniformly nice and crisp.

    I love kale chips and make it often. I love the flavors you have added! A very healthy alternative to the regular potato chips! Thanks for bringing it to FF!
